The following company is offering a VERY expensive famiclone with mouse:

http://www.robwebb1.plus.com/nes/nes.htm

He's trading as Consolegoods.co.uk but if you want one, don't use Nochex as payment as it will mean that you cannot get a refund if anything is wrong as Nochex is a credit card broker; bitter personal experience!

I don't know if they use the same cartridge as subor, or if the mouse is compatible. No way of knowing without buying one.

If there is anyone else in the UK who wants to get hold of the "official" Subor famiclone, I am trying to see if I can get a deal with the manufacturer, but currently the minimum order is 2000 units. If interested, please post here...

Jonathan, do you know how these thailandese suppliers can be contacted for ordering these machines in a good ammount, and how much they would cost?

UPDATE: I contacted Rob Webb to ask him if he would be interested in chipping in on an order from Subor, which would net him some Famiclones at the $10 price, which with shipping and UK customs would probably mean £20 per machine. I told him about being the only apparent UK supplier and of playpower.org hoping that it might get us closer to the minimum order number, and possibly throw some money his way through orders for playpower developers or volunteers. He told me that he only had the subor machines "through a mistake of samples from a supplier" and seemed surprised that advertising them at £60 he "had no interest, and certainly not sold one yet"

Unsurprisingly, he wasn't interested in going in on a minimum order of any size. He also rather took offence to my description of £60 being very expensive:

"I'm sorry that you feel my price is 'very expensive' by the way, i read your blog. I have to cover costs. And I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experiance with Nochex, for what its worth most buyers use Paypal, which is risky for sellers. "

On nochex, his last point is rather telling. If you pay that way, as a consumer you have "no rights at all" as what you are 'purchasing' is the right for someone else to be given unreturnable cash. Buying with a credit card and all the protection that normally offers is gone with nochex. So much do I hate and dispise this "the customers are all potential criminals" approach that I am very keen never to buy from someone when this is my only option. It's very popular amongst scammers and dealers in dubious goods.

I guess I can understand his view on covering his costs; UK overheads, etc, but advertising it as "not a real computer", yet asking as much as he has, he either paid too much for these or wants too much margin. Whatever the price, he is currently the ONLY person advertising the famiclones, so I may have to buy one anyway. I am certainly no nearer the 100 minimum order from Subor that we were trying to negotiate. :-(

Ha ha..UK nice and expensive. I bought one of these keyboard NES clones with 3 Carts (48 in 1,32 in 1 and 11 in 1) the usual 2 controllers, light gun etc for 39 Baht in Thailand! Read less than a dollar...all working! Actually I bought 2. One wasn't working so they refunded me! Nice. Bought Brand New Retail in the box! From TESCO's in Thailand with a receipt to prove it!

Also ConsoleGoods state that it is not a 'proper' computer. Depends on your definition but I was able to program and execute code under GBasic. Also you can Save if you modify the Cart with extra ROM and a CR2032 3V battery. Shame it had no printer port then I could print my word documents!! No email or internet though... :)~
