Game user testing is going great! Once we get the games running (we've had a TON of technical issues) they are really working well. The typing game seems to be the favorite so far-- It is definitely the most collaborative, as you can see in this video.

I'm collecting a lot of information that should inform the design in specific ways. When I get a little bit more time, I'll organize and share this~

Any requests, while I'm in the field?

It's my last day! I've got loads of data, photos, etc.

Yeah, so, our custom prototype cartridges have a different current draw than normal cartridges. So they only work on some TVCs. And every house poses a new technical problem. It's weird, you'd think TVs would be all the same, until you get an electrical shock touching an AV cable coming out of the TV. So many funky things going on... power quality is awful--

Parents are doing interesting things. Sometimes they are directing (like, one father was having his son copy text to learn typing), sometimes they are participating in mario or duck hunt, or teaching kids to play certain games. Sometimes they are watching, sometimes they are mediating fights between siblings over who gets to play, sometimes they are packing up the box and telling the kids they don't get to play anymore ever. It's a big range!

Together with the field workers, we'll prepare the notes, figure out which ones gave approval for public sharing, and then give direct access. We have all the phone numbers, so if you ever have a specific question that we didn't ask, we still can...

Tons of technical issues? I thought those are plug-in-and-play, no? and what is the role of Indian parents in the testing? Are they helping, giving instructions, or directing children's play? I want to hear more about it, very well done!

Sounds great. Love to see the games! I am producing bunch of language learning games at Sesame Street, and your typing game seems to inspire good ideas for these tools.
