game user testing in India

Game user testing is going great! Once we get the games running (we've had a TON of technical issues) they are really working well. The typing game seems to be the favorite so far-- It is definitely the most collaborative, as you can see in this video.

I'm collecting a lot of information that should inform the design in specific ways. When I get a little…

Where will our games be played?

View family "BD"

Over the course of the next 2 weeks, I'll be helping conduct game user testing with our games in India. While the games are still "in-development", we want to sense of whether children/families

understand and enjoy the… Continue

Feedback on existing games?

Hey everyone,

Here is a draft of the current version of the games. Many changes are planned, but it would be great to get feedback now. We will be trying these out with some families, and iterating over the course of the week. We'd really love your feedback! All you need is an NES emulator...…

Thanks for the message, Derek! I do my actual NES tile data with YY-CHR. Occasionally, I'll use IrfanView as well to rapidly downsample sketches or photographs before importing into YY-CHR.
I'm really hopeful that I can help with this amazing project, and I will definitely check out the resources that you sent to me. It would be great to get a community going here in TX as well.
Do you know where I can find information about the hardware specs for this system? Also, I wonder if it is possible to purchase a system in order to help with gamedev efforts. (I'm still new to the site, so perhaps I'll stumble upon this information in my journeys.)
Thanks again! -R

Thanks for the welcome Derek, I am always up for making any bit size tank game :-) I saw there's a group that meets at NYU, are there any groups meeting here in Pittsburgh? I'd be interested in going to see what people are working on.

Hi Derek,

Thanks for the welcome.

Could you give me some more specific about the capabilities of the platform(s) you're using? Any chance I can get my hands on one? Is there a list of games that have already been made/ported?

Cheers!

Hi Derek!
I wanted to see if there are any needs for graphic designers or user experience analysts right now? Thanks!

Derek, are you going to the TooManyGames convention down in Reading? It's a big indie and retro con that could attract the right attnetion for our cause as well as introducing our concept to a large group.

Hi Derek,
We haven't done much in our HHD division, but in EDCs International division we do have some experience. Most of our content has been created for radio-based learning however. Here are a few links:

I'll have to give your second question some thought. The $10 platform has with it the need consider what may be appropriate for all ages.

I enjoyed hearing about your work and I think it's a great way to deliver valuable information in a very practical way. I'll write more soon.

Sounds like a good idea. If you could send an invite to playpower to Chris Lawrence, our head of digital learning that would be great. He's the person to talk to about this. clawrence@nysci.org
