Hello PlaypowerCommuntiy,
I'm currently trying to get my hands on some hardware that is similiar to any of these 10$ Computers (with keyboard and mouse, if possible)...
The link to MakerShed (found in the wiki: http://playpower.pbworks.com/w/page/17230497/Frequently%20Asked%20Q... ) is no longer available. So, I guess they stopped the cooperation with Playpower Foundation?!
I've also found these 2 pages here about getting hardware:
http://volunteers.playpower.org/forum/topics/ukeu-access-to-hardware
http://volunteers.playpower.org/profiles/blogs/uk-supply-of-famiclo...
The UK supplier is only selling the "NES/Famicom clone, 'Educational Computer' console set" (for £3... now, which is sadly without any mouse input device. But seems for me the only place to still get anything thats similiar to the 10$ computer. I'm thinking about getting one there, if I can't find a 10$ Computer with keyboard & mouse...
So, there are really no other online suppliers (worldwide)?
Any help would be highly appreciated... Thanks in advance!
Permalink Reply by Dr. Mike Reddy on October 16, 2011 at 6:57am Well, I sort of gave up trying to get one in the UK. A friend of a friend was in Bangladesh recently, but I asked too late to give her the time to look in local shops before she had to return home; kicks self!
No-one responded to my request for clubbing together for a bulk order, so that trail has probably gone cold now. I'd love to get a few of these in for student projects, but without the authentic hardware and a way to dev to appropriate cartridges, this project is pretty much dead for now. Hopefully, others will make progress, but I am on hold until we have an effective tool chain. Telling students that emulators are a step there isn't quite the same motivation for them as seeing programs run on hardware. Sadly, I agree with them. Projects like FIGnition and Raspberry Pi may overtake this initiative otherwise.

I've read your thread about the bulk order - too bad, that no one seemed interested. Specially because 100 units seemed much more reasonable than 2000 units. Developing on real hardware is really so much more exciting... I would love to see some student projects on this, but without the proper hardware that's not really likely. If theres an new attempt for an bulk order in the future, I'm definitely in with a few units!
However, for now I've found a way to order one directly from india. Maybe its helpfull for someone else, so I will post it here:
I've ordered over the proxy order service from "indiangenie" (see here http://www.indiangenie.com/index.html ) with the by Joseph Mauriello provided way description to Palika (see here: http://volunteers.playpower.org/profiles/blogs/i-have-two-10-computers ).
I've payed 1200 INR for the computer itself, plus shipping (indian post - 1500 INR ~10 days) and a small interest for indiangenie (I think about 150 INR or 5% of the value - whatsever more). Totally its about 40 Euros with shipping worldwide - cheaper for me, than that one http://www.robwebb1.plus.com/nes/nes.htm and it even provides an mouse.

So, now I'm waiting excited for the hardware - I will make an blog post or so, when it finally arrives here...

Permalink Reply by Slo Bu on November 14, 2011 at 12:57pm As with most pirate NES clones there seems to be a variety of these keyboard systems. Do we have a list of known-good famiclones that work with PLAYPOWER code?
Permalink Reply by Constantin on November 14, 2011 at 1:09pm According to: http://nocash.emubase.de/everynes.htm#controllers only the keyboard matrix is different to that one used by the FamilyKeyboard (bundled with FamilyBasic).
The "32-in-1 Study and Game / Education Keyboard Matrix" should be the same, that SUBOR systems (and other NES keyboards with CTRL, ALT and so on) are using.
Permalink Reply by Marcel Cevani on November 15, 2011 at 6:05am Hi, does somebody know an working NES to famicom adapter ?
I made a NROM test card but just for EU NES.

I have bought from these people before and had no issues:
