Hey I'm a programmer and would really love to get on a team for building a game.
Anyone needing someone to help out let me know.
My cell is 575 218 9026 and my e-mail is dets@comcast.net.  Please reference PlayPower in the subject (I get spam in there and don't want to delete your e-mails).
I've never made an 8-bit game before but if someone can nudge me in the right direction I will get up to speed on whatever it is I need to and get working ASAP.  I really think this is an awesome cause and I totally want to be as big of a part that I can.  Thanks in advance for getting me started with you all.

I'm also interested in working on a game. I don't have any NES experience, but I am quite warm to the 6502.

Here is a great resource for programming info:

How will these games be used though? Will they be published and sold along with the Playpower computer?
These games are to be packaged with low end computer systems sold in other countries where they can't afford much. The games are to be educational and fun at the same time. Hopefully someone who's been volunteering with powerplay will help us help them by getting us in on a project otherwise you and I could try to create a game, lol. I'm ready to make something for these kids but I really don't know where to start no one's really engaged me to help out with something that's been going on.

Check your email, lets talk there :).
Its best if you send private message to active people as many times people don't check out the forums..
Hello Hugh, I am interested in making a learning game, I'm a dentist, I do not know much about programming, I can contribute with my knowledge of dentistry for example, making a game where children or users made aware of the magnitude of dental health, maybe I can contribute to the design, art and graphics, if you're interested I join your team. Greetings

Hey Eduardo that sounds good, sorry for the delay with this reply but I don't get to check my email too often.  I'll talk with James to see if a dentistry game is something we want to start.  I like the idea myself but unless it will be implemented into the game packs we should hold off on starting a development team and such.

Thanks for your interest in helping out, please don't be discouraged by the delays in my replies, I will get information to you as soon as I get it but it still may go a little slow.  Take care!

How are you Hugh, I'm ready to start developing ideas on how to be the way to play the video game, the main objective of the game is to reflect to the user about the importance of oral health, especially dental hygiene and prevention are the basis for maintain excellent oral health, I can send if you like some sketches in the form of presentation of what would be the game, its objectives, possible characters, explanations, etc. What do you think of this? Any questions you have let me know, by the way, someone else has joined the team? Greetings and take care friend.

Eduardo, your idea sounds excellent. Dental hygiene is extremely important, especially in the target market of the $10 computer. I recommend putting your idea together into what is called a "Functional Spec". A functional spec is a good way of getting all the work required for the game broken down into individual "deliverables". Please check out an existing spec for the Malaria game here.

If you add this idea to the ideas page we can create a home for this project on the wiki. There, you guys can put up what art, code, music, etc you need from the greater community, and have a common place for all your work, and a place where you can put your concept art, sketches and design work.

Hugh, if you are still looking for some resources to get you started on programming for the 6502, the link posted by Rick is the best way to start. There is also a whole bunch of videos posted on the Playpower vimeo account, which are a great way to get a bit of exposure not only to ASM, but to sprite creation, and even EPROM burning (you can make a proto-board to test your code on a real NES/Famiclone).

I look forward to seeing your project progress.
